The Battle of Altorus
Post 07

Bridge, USS Tethys
1445 Hours, MD-02

On the main viewscreen, the stars slowed until they were tiny pinpricks of light once again.  The Tethys had dropped to impulse power as it slowly continued forward toward its destination. The atmosphere on the bridge was tense as everyone focused on the tasks before them. Iluvar sat in the command chair, eying the viewscreen, wondering if there was anything out there.

Logan yawned slightly, tired from the lack of sleep he'd been getting, and turned towards Iluvar. "We have arrived at the Altorus system."

"The Ambassador's shuttle is still out of sensor range, Sir," Jennifer reported. "No sign of it within range."

McNeil stared thoughtfully at the main viewscreen from his chair just to the Commodore's left.  "I still think this could be a trap, sir," he said.  He didn't want to sound like a broken record, but he also had to make sure the Commodore was fully aware of all possibilities.  In this case he probably was, but, McNeil had to be sure.  "Recommend that we remain at Yellow Alert or higher from now until we return to Federation space."

Iluvar looked over his shoulder toward the tactical station, where Commander Earlond was already checking his sensor displays.

"Haven't got anything that looks Elyshan, either," Earlond said. "Not to be cliché, but it's a bit too quiet for my tastes."

“Then we’ll wait,” Iluvar said, facing forward again, “Helm, all stop.  Any sign of the others?”

"Five ships are en-route, Sir, including the Tigris, Tizona and Carthage. Reports show seven other ships moving to secure key points along our border with the Elyshans," Lockheart responded.

“Will it be enough?” Iluvar muttered under his breath.  He noticed Ensign Andeti eying him and added aloud, “Keep an eye out.  We don’t want any surprises.”
