Welcome to the USS Frontier NCC-74799!

The year is 2387...

For over a decade following the end of the Dominion War, the Federation enjoyed an unprecedented era of peace with its neighbors. To many, it felt like the dawn of a new day for the Alpha Quadrant, but for others, it felt more like the calm before the storm.

Welcome to the USS Frontier, one of Starfleet's most advanced and most versatile vessels. For over three years, this ship and its crew have served the Federation faithfully by exploring deep into uncharted space, opening up diplomatic relations with the Elyshan Empire, and protecting our borders and planets from hostile forces. Needless to say, it has not been easy, but we continue to stand ready for whatever challenges may arise.

I am Ambassador Mordred Ocal, an El-Aurian diplomat who, until just a few years ago, was quite content to teach at Starfleet Academy and go on the occasional diplomatic mission to a new world. Now I find myself in charge of a rather unique group of officers who, although very capable, have a tendency to make our missions a great deal more interesting than they would have been otherwise.

And then there is you. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to have a character on a Starfleet ship... if you think you've got what it takes to go on long missions, engage enemy vessels, and save the ship from near destruction on a regular basis... or if you're just a really talented writer, we want YOU!

We are always looking for talented, unique characters to interact with (whether officers, civilians, or something else entirely), so please feel free to check out the site, and if you like what you see, consider submitting a formal application. It doesn't matter if you're new to the fray or an experienced simmer... on the USS Frontier, all are welcome :-)

So, I ask you now... can you help us maintain peace and protect the Federation? Are you ready to brave the Final Frontier?

» USS Frontier Shutdown

Posted on Thu Oct 27th, 2011 @ 10:44pm by Captain Mordred Ocal in Out of Character

Greetings All!

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that the USS Frontier simm is going to be indefinitely shut down. Unfortunately, between low activity levels and my own incredibly busy schedule in real life, the simm has gotten to the point where almost nobody is updating their Joint Posts, so rather than trying to keep things going, I am just going to shut the simm down for a while and try to focus on other things for a bit.

Hopefully, after a few months of getting things squared away in real life and getting more work done on the Future Fleets site, I will be able to relaunch the Frontier simm. Until then, however, I hope that all of you will take good care of yourselves and find other great simms for your amazing characters.

Thank you all so much for everything you've done to help make this simm a success over the years!

Sincerely,

Ambassador Mordred Ocal
Commanding Officer, USS Frontier

Greetings All!

So things have been a bit slow as of late, and I wanted to give you all a quick status report about what is going on with me on causing the delays in my responses.

Over the past several weeks, I have been taking a number of courses and reading several books on web design which, I hope, will give me some of the additional skills I need to really kick the Future Fleets site up a notch in the months to come. As you've probably all figured out by now, I truly believe that the Future Fleets system will, hopefully sooner rather than later, become the next stage in the evolution of this simm, adding a number of exciting new features.

That said, I apologize for not devoting more time to this site in the interim. I am going to make more of an effort to keep things moving here, if for no other reason than to keep the simm alive until the Future Fleets site can fully take over the simming functions that NOVA currently provides.

Please let me know if you guys have any ideas, questions, or concerns regarding our current mission or the recent low activity level. Hopefully we can pick up the pace a little bit over the next few weeks and start getting into the more exciting parts of this plot.

Hope you are all doing well!

Sincerely,

Ambassador Mordred Ocal
Commanding Officer, USS Frontier

Greetings All!

I would like to make a general request to all crew members to please try to be more active, if possible. This mission has slowed down considerably with the start of summer, and if people are not able to contribute to a post within a few days of getting tagged, the post should proceed without them.

I would also like to encourage everyone to start working on DARK SIDE posts when they have free time. Posts are limited to one per person, per day, and should chronicle the life of the mirror universe versions of any of your characters (whether they are on the Frontier or not).

Please let me know if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns. Otherwise, I look forward to reading more from you guys!

Sincerely,

Ambassador Mordred Ocal
Commanding Officer, USS Frontier

» The DARK SIDE Series

Posted on Tue Jun 28th, 2011 @ 4:52pm by Captain Mordred Ocal in Website Update

Greetings All!

I am pleased to announce the start of a new posting series entitled "Dark Side." While our current mission is evolving, I am inviting members of this simm to use their down time to submit up to one post per day in the DARK SIDE series, which chronicles the lives of any of your characters' alternate selves in the Mirror Universe. These posts will all likely be solo posts, written when you are online and done responding to tags, but they can be Joint Posts if you would like.

For those of you who have not been following along with the USS Frontier's storylines, the Mirror Universe according to us has evolved quite a bit since Deep Space Nine. The Terrans eventually broke away from the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance (which controls our universe's southern Federation territories) and were absorbed into the Romulan Star Federation (which controls our universe's northern Federation territories). Also during Deep Space Nine, the Terrans acquired the blueprints to the Defiant, so during our missions, they eventually acquired Intrepid blueprints, as well.

Eventually, the Terrans and some other nearby planets broke free from the Romulans and began to form their own organization somewhere in the dead center of the war zone between the Romulan Federation and the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. And that is where our new series picks up.

As I mentioned above, you guys are encouraged to channel your excess creativity into one post a day, if you'd like, that way you can explore the lives of any of your characters (Frontier-related or not). All I ask is that you adhere to the existing storyline, make note of other players' contributions, restrict yourselves to one per day, and try not to do anything in that universe that we wouldn't allow in this universe (e.g. super-characters, major storyline changes, unrealistic technologies or plot events, interactions with canon characters, etc. etc.).

If you have any questions, please feel free to check with me. Otherwise, I look forward to reading about your adventures!

Hope you are all enjoying your summers!

Sincerely,

Ambassador Mordred Ocal
Commanding Officer, USS Frontier
